After like a span of one-year, cellular network service has been restored for the people of Mohmand Agency on Saturday, as informed by the officials.

The people of Mohmand Agency took the support of social media platform to express their joy upon the restoration of the services which were suspended back on 15th March 2017 owing to the suicide attacks and IED blasts. People who were working abroad were cut-off because of the cellular services suspension.

Previously, Wasif Saeed—Political Agent Mohmand Agency had given a hint about the restoration of the mobile services while speaking to a local newspaper. As per another development, the number of checkpoints in the agency has been reduced to eight from seventeen.

The officials of the political administration official and the residents in Ghallanai—the agency headquarter of Mohmand Agency, has given confirmation regarding the restoration of the mobile network services, which started working at around 6:30 pm.

As per the official sources, the verdict of restoring the cellular service in the agency quarter of Ghallanai was taken in a meeting of military and civil authorities for the greater interest of the local population.

Mohmand Agency is a district in the FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas) of Pakistan. The district was created back in the year 1951. The Mohmand Agency is presently divided into seven tehsils.

As per the 1998 Census, the population of the district is 334,453. Although it is a tourist attraction area, it has been an area of conflict between certain militant groups and Pakistan Army.
