The mobile imports into the nation during the initial 7 months of the present financial year have decreased by 7.11percent in comparison to the same period of last fiscal year, as per the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
According to the most recent data shared by PBS, the imported mobile phones in Pakistan costing $423.818million during the span of July-January (2018-19) in comparison to the imports of $456.254million during July-January (2017-18), depicts negative growth of 7.11percent.
The overall imports of the telecom division have witnessed a decline of 10.58percent by failing from the trade of $876.124million last year to $783.450million during the present financial year.
On a year-on-year basis, the imports of mobile phones into the country has witnessed a sharp decrease of 25.06percent in the month of January 2019 in comparison to the imports of the same month of 2018.
The PBS data indicated that the mobile phone imports during January was recorded at $59.771million against the imports of $79.759million.
On a month-on-month basis, the imports of mobile phones in the country, experienced a surge of 0.63percent in January 2019 in comparison to the imports of $59.396million in the month of December last year.
The overall imports of the telecommunication division declined 4.35percent in the month of January 2019 on a year-on-year basis, but, surged by 15.92 percent on a month-on-month basis.
The imports of the telecom sector were recorded at $127.524million in January 2019 compared to the imports of $133.323million in January 2018 and $110.006million in the month of December last year.
