A mobile app has been launched by the National Highway Authority captioned as the “NHA-IS” for providing ease to the travelling passengers on the national highways and motorways.
Murad Saeed—the state minister for Communication attended the launching event as the chief guest. The ceremony was held on Sunday at the NHA headquarters in the federal capital.
The launched app would permit users to acquire information regarding the under-process projects, their progress, the contact details of the various project directors and the funding sources. The application would also assist in recognizing the GIS location of the projects.
The application provides users with the details of the nationwide toll plazas on road networks of the NHA in line with the approved tax rates. The app would also help the travellers in planning their journey by marking on the locations.
The application is provided with the information regarding the current highways and motorways. Special road safety measures are also included in the app for educating the public. The emergency contact details of the Motorway Police, NHA and the National Highway are also present on this application.
The minister said that the mobile app would make way for bringing in transparency to the road building projects.
He informed that NHA was motivated to undertake the projects of road construction on BOT basis. He further told that the NHA’s land costing Rs12.8 billion had been recovered from the encroachers.
Murad Saeed told about the progress in e-tendering and e-bidding.
Regarding the application, he said that the app is developed by the information technology department of NHA. The department is currently being managed by Waqas Khalid Malik—the Deputy Director.
