The Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed said that the Main Line – One (ML-I) project will bring job opportunities in Pakistan. An initial agreement will be signed between Pakistan and China during the visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to Beijing
He further revealed that once the project is completed the time traveling from Lahore to Karachi will be reduced to 8 hours.
He said, “The speed of ML-I trains will be 160 km/hr, at least.”
Furthermore, the minister revealed that work on the Quetta to Taftan ML-3 will also start soon.
He also said that the railway budget has bee discussed and it will be finalized by 24th April.
Rasheed said that the mega China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the railway department is the center of Pakistan’s economy.
He said, “There is international conspiracy involved in creating difficulties for the railways’ department.”
About the cabinet reshuffle, the minister said that just one minister has been fired while Asad Umar has given resignation himself. He also said that he will request Asad Umar to remain in the federal cabinet.
In order to delay the strategically important scheme, it has been agreed between Pakistan and China to amend a framework agreement for the implementation of ML-I project.
