Sheikh Rasheed, the federal minister for Railways has said that the ML-1 railway project, which is the biggest ever railway project in the history of the country was given approval by the federal government would be creating 150,000 jobs, as per the reports of local media.
He said in one of his statements that the approval of the ML-1 railway line project was pending for the past thirteen years. He gave credit to PM Khan for making advancements in the mega railway project.
He indicated that all the railway crossings would be removed after the ML-1 project reaches completion, whereas, the development work would start this year.
The journey between time between Lahore and Karachi would be reduced to 7 hours, 2 hours between Multan and Lahore, and 2.5 hours between Rawalpindi and Lahore. Alongside the reduction, in the journey time, the train’s speed would also be increased up to 160 kilometres per hour.
Sheikh Rasheed expressed his hopes that the mega project would be bringing in an economic revolution in the nation. He promised that the project would be completed at earliest.
Previously, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) gave approval to the ML-1 project which is to reach completion at the cost of more than $6.8 billion to upgrade the 2,655 kilometers long railway track into 3 phases.
