On Thursday, Pakistan Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed gave a media briefing on ML-1 project at the Press Information Department. He said that the ML-1 agreement stipulates that 90% of the labor will be from Pakistan and 150,000 to 200,000 people will be employed under the project.
The Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that the number of trains from the ML-1 project will be increased and travel duration will be reduced significantly.
While talking to media Sheikh Rashid said that this is a track built since 1861 on which accidents happen every day, now the signal system will also be automatic, the train will stop before the accident, the railway track passes through 71% of the population, people on this track used to play football and offer funerals.
The Railway Minister offered to lease the tracks to private companies, which can bring their own train. He further said that efforts would be made to set up a railway university as well.
Sheikh Rashid also said that if a tender was given for the ML-One project, the project could be completed in three years. If the tenders were two or three, it would take a maximum of five years.
