Former skipper of the Pakistani Cricket Team—Misbah-Ul-Haq has been appointed to the joint position of the head coach and chief selector—the first time in the Pakistani cricket— for the men’s cricket team.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) named Waqar Younis as the bowling coach of the cricket team.

The position of batting coach remains vacant.

According to a press release issued by the PCB, Misbah got the green signal from a five-member panel, which interviewed several other candidates and submitted their recommendations to the chairman of the cricket board.

“It is very humbling for me to join a select group of some of the very best to have coached the Pakistan national sides in the past,” Misbah-Ul-Haq said adding that it is an honour and more than that, a massive responsibility as we live and breathe cricket.

Earlier, the posts of Head Coach and Chief Selector of the cricket team were held by Mickey Arthur and the former cricketer Inzamamul Haq respectively.
