Ministry of Railways to Launch 14 Local Trains in the Sialkot District

The Ministry of Railways in a bid to provide ease to the commuters is all set to unveil fourteen local trains in the Sialkot District, including Pasrur and Sambrial under the public-private partnership.

A railway’s official said that the Pakistani Railways and the private firm were attempting to restore the fourteen deserted railway stations which include Begowala, Saahowala, Pasrur, Sohawa, Uggoki, Chawinda, Sialkot, Gunnah Kalan, Naseerabad and Alhar.

The official added that the trains would be facilitating more than four million population of the Sialkot District by giving them with much better railway journey services. He also informed that the required arrangements relating this have been done already by the Pakistan Railways and the private firm.

The official mentioned that fourteen railway stations are in a run-down condition for many years because of the ignorance of the previous governments.

He explained that the Pakistan Railways and the private sector would mutually be running the trains from the Sialkot junction railway station to Pasrur and from Sialkot to Wazirabad through Sambrial. He said that each of the trains would be able to carry one thousand eight hundred passengers. The trains would be provided with the Wi-Fi and canteen services.

The official mentioned that the local trains would be having eight bogies to provide ease to the local people.

He indicated that the elderly people and the children under the age of ten would enjoy a free ride and the students would be able to avail a fifty percent special discount.

Back in 2017, the Pakistan Railways made the final arrangements for the making and upgradation of more than fifty thousand kilometres of tracks throughout the country on the build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis.

Officials said that the upgradation and improvement of the present railway tracks would also be done for acquiring higher speeds of up to one hundred and sixty kilometres per hour relating which the feasibility analysis of few sections is being done.

The BOT mechanism would solve the financing problems, which had been one of the major hurdles in the way of putting different projects in effect.
