The Railways Ministry would soon be submitting the PC-1 for connecting the new rail tracks after the completion of the feasibility report on the different routes of Pakistan Railways.
The new rail routes in Baluchistan under the flagship of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would be connecting the Gwadar with Mastung through Basima which is of nine hundred and six kilometres and Basima with Jacobabad via Khuzdar which is of three hundred kilometres, a long-term project envisioned for 2025-30.
A possibility analysis of both the routes is underway, as informed by an official of the Pakistan Railways.
The analysis is in the most advanced stages and when would be completed, the PC-1 would be prepared for the submission for the approval of the competent platform.
Different land parcels needed for putting the project into effect have been selected for the feasibility study. Currently, the land acquiring in Gwadar is in progress. Regarding this two hundred and eighty-five acres for Railways Station and Container Yard and 73.68 acres for the Right of Way (RoW) have been attained under the approved PC-1 and worth rupees 1332.502 million.
Additional two hundred acres of land approximately for the Railway Station and Container Yard beside the 27.350 acres of the RoW are being attained under another PC-I submitted to the Railway Ministry for which rupees five million has been assigned by the Planning Commission during the span of the fiscal year 2017-18.
He also mentioned that the present railway’s line from Rohri to Kohi-Taftan through Quetta is being advanced and upgraded.
