Microsoft announced its plan to sell the feature phone business to FIH Mobile, earlier, this year. But it seems even after the agreement to sell the feature phone business for $350 million the company is still making Nokia phones. FIH Mobile is a subsidiary under Foxconn. Microsoft revealed Nokia 216 in an announcement this morning.

Nokia 216 is a very basic mobile phone that Microsoft manufactures. The phone will be available in India for $37 from next month. The feature phone is very basic with a 2.4 inch QVGA display and 0.3 megapixel camera at front and rear. It is running on the Series 30 OS with Opera mini browser pre-installed. The feature phone is very popular in India and parts of Asia. The company expected that the users of this phone will create a Microsoft account. They hoped that they would integrate themselves into the Microsoft eco-system.

The company is also planning on killing the Lumia phones. Rumors hint out that Microsoft will kill off Lumia Phone manufacturing by the end of this year. The Inquirer points to the rumors of a new phone being introduced in the market by Microsoft. The surface phone is a new brand that they will launch in the market.

The surface phone by Microsoft will be available in three versions. The lesser version of the phone will come with 3GB or 4GB RAM and 128GB of storage. The higher end models will be in 6GB and 256GB of storage. The third version will be in 8GB and 512GB storage. Not much is known about the Windows 10 powered devices but they expect to launch soon.

The phones are hopefully to launch in early 2017 with rumors pointing out to 5.5 inch screen and 5.7 inch QHD screens. They would also have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 internals, an Intel Atom CPU, plus, a microSD slot.
