The fare of Lahore’s metro bus service has been increased by Rs 10, as reported by local media on Thursday.
As per sources, the Finance and Transport Departments of Punjab had given a recommendation to Usman Buzdar the Chief Minister for surging the fares by Rs.20.
The departments informed the CM that the province of Punjab is providing annual subsidiary of Rs.12.30 billion on the present rates and the subsidy would be reduced to Rs.10.50 billion if the fare is fixed at Rs.50.
Usman Buzdar was also briefed that the motorcycle rickshaws and wagons travelling on the same route are charging the passengers Rs.40 and Rs.50 respectively.
It has been learnt that the chief minister has denied the proposal of surging the rates by Rs.20 and has ordered to fix the fares at Rs.40. The increase of Rs.10 had already been given approval by the cabinet.
On the other hand, as per the latest updates, the export activities have decreased 60percent as the cargo transporters strike continues for the fourth day.
The cargo automobiles have been seen parked on the roads resulting in delaying the shipment of consignments from the Qasim and Karachi ports.
