A mobile app and a YouTube channel have been launched by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The aim is to keep the users up to date regarding the weather conditions all over Pakistan.
In a ceremony organized to launch the state-of-the-art IT Centre at the PMD head-office, these details were revealed. A new website is also launched by the Met Office.
The Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan was the chief guest in the ceremony. He said that the Met Office has been equipped with the latest technology. Further adding, that new initiatives have been taken for the timely spread of information regarding the weather.
The mobile phone app will send audio and video messages on weather updates to the users. On the YouTube channel of the Met Department, hourly news bulletins will be live-streamed.
Modern technology will be used to keep farmers at district and tehsil level updated on weather conditions.
The minister said, “Weather forecast and news in video and audio formats will be provided to masses on daily basis, beginning from today, these updates would also be made available on different social media platforms.”
At the Met Office’s updated website, the audio and video reports would also be available as per Ghulam Sarwar Khan.
