The first ever Mehman Khana also referred to as the guest house has been opened for the attendants of the patients at the Jinnah Hospital in Lahore on Tuesday.
Dr Yasmin Rashid—the Health Minister Punjab inaugurated the Mehman Khana in a simple ceremony.
Nearly 200 attendants who have travelled from distant areas could stay in the Mehman Khana where they would also be served with food.
The minister instructed Dr Asim Hameed—the medical superintendent for visiting the Mehman Khana on a regular basis for providing better services.
While conversing with media, Dr Yasmin Rashid said that the Mehman Khanas would also be established at the Mayo Hospital Lahore, Lahore General Hospital, Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi and Services Hospital.
In the second phase, she added that the Mehman Khanas would also be built at other tertiary hospitals.
She further said that the distribution of 10,000 health insurance cards would also be started during the present month of January.
