On Sunday, Mayor Wasim Akhtar paid a tribute to the health workers who are putting their lives on the line to fight with the deadly virus. Mayor Wasim Akhtar said that 5 doctors and 7 paramedics working at the hospital are diagnosed with the coronavirus
An event was held in order to pay them a tribute. In this event, he addressed that many other developed countries have been hit badly by COVID-19 which has resulted in the downfall of their economies. The occasion included doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, Dr.Syed Saif-ur-Rehman, Senior Director Medical Services Dr.Salma Kausar, Senior Director Coordination Masood Alam, Model Busha Abbas, and Wasay Abbas.
Wasim Akhtar also asked the private sector to help the needy and daily wagers for their living. 4 clinics have been established in many hospitals and 40 ventilators are available with KMC. COVID-19 tests can now also be conducted in the KMC hospitals which have laboratories in them. As per the mayor, no government can cope up with the current situation alone. He asked every stakeholder to assist the local government.
The whole world is facing problems due to this pandemic and it is still not sure when will these difficulties end said Dr.Syed Saif-ur-Rehman Metropolitan Commissioner. According to him, the local government is working hard to overcome this problem but the people should also take responsibility to take all preventive measures and help each other.
Model Busha Abbas donated face masks, gloves, ventilators, and other safety items to KMC. She also encouraged others to come forward and play their part.
