On Sunday, the workers of Karachi Marriage Halls Labor Union carried out a protest at the Five Star Chowrangi in Karachi demanding to reopen the marriage halls.

The protest was staged due to the closure of the marriage halls during the lockdown which has been imposed by the government to control the spread of the virus. The protesters included all men, women, and children.

The traffic from Sakhi Hassan to Hyderi was blocked due to the protest.

The leaders of the protest said that because of the lockdown many workers are jobless and so they demand to reopen all the wedding halls.

Earlier at the beginning of this month, Chief Atiq Mir All Karachi Tajir Ittehad said that due to the closure of the marriage halls, one million people have become jobless. The people working for marriage halls are currently unemployed.

Many offices, markets, and other institutions that were closed in the wake of COVID-19 have been allowed to reopen. Now, the Karachi Marriage Halls Association is requesting the government to allow them to continue their business. They also ensured the government that they will follow all the SOPs properly.

The association remarked, that if all other businesses like; shopping malls, airlines, Nadra Mega Centers, public transports, worship places, and cattle markets have been allowed to continue their work then why the wedding halls are not allowed to continue their businesses.

The Marriage Halls Association says that they are ready to follow all preventive measures and the SOPs which the government provided.
