Marriage Hall Association Announces Protest across Pakistan on 13th July

It has been announced by the Marriage Hall Association that there would be a countrywide protest on 13th July to urge the government into accepting their demand of permitting wedding halls reopening under the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Following an emergency video-link meeting of wedding lawn owners’ body representatives meeting from across the country, this announcement was made. They pondered on the issue of marriage halls closure across Pakistan.

It was decided that they will hold protest outside the press clubs across Pakistan at the same time to demand the halls reopening.

Rana Raes, the President of the Association said that the marriage hall owners will go towards the press clubs in all the major cities for protesting. He said that hundred of thousands of people will join them in the protest.

He said that it is regretful that the government has not accepted their demands. He said that the protesters would make sure that they follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during their protest.

Workers of Karachi Marriage Halls Labour Union also protested at the Five Star Chowrangi of the city, last Sunday asking for the reopening of marriage halls. The protesters included women, children. They protested a sit-in at Five Star Chowrangi.

The leaders of the protest said that the workers have lost their jobs amidst the lockdown. They demanded that marriage halls should be reopened.
