In the next hearing of the Margalla Hills deforestation case, Malik Riaz has been ordered by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) to pay Rs 1 trillion for encroaching government land in Islamabad.
CJP said, “Please arrange for Rs1,000 billion before the next hearing.”
The Bahria Enclave in Islamabad is basically constructed on the government-owned land.
Bahria Town owner responded to CJP’s demands and said that even does not have Rs 100 billion, adding, “even the United States won’t have that much money”.
Saqib Nisar said that if Malik Riaz does not have any money, who does? He added, ‘You have the money of the entire country. Bahria Enclave has occupied much of the government land. What is happening in Bahria Town?’
Till October 1st the court proceedings have been adjourned. Malik Riaz asked that the CJP give him 20 minutes to speak but the CJP said that he will be allowed to speak in the next hearing.
