Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19, Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider announces a further extension in the lockdown for one week on Friday.
Prime Minister AJK ordered the administration to apply the Standard Operating Procedures strictly, as planned by the government throughout the lockdown time.
Raja Farooq Haider asked the commissioners to make a list of all the Rickshaw and bus drivers and hairdressers and provide them with financial aid by the AJK government. The home department AJK also announced that they are changing the district magistrate as he was lacking cooperation with the AJK citizens.
Back on April 23rd, PM Raja Farooq declared an extension in the lockdown for 4 weeks in the region. He also said that the Inter and Intra transport in Azad Kashmir will also remain suspended in the lockdown.
He further added that the lockdown will be applied 2 days in a week; Tuesday and Friday. Also, all public gatherings including marriage ceremonies will be restricted for the next 4 weeks.
The total cases of coronavirus in Pakistan have increased to 17,699 out of which 66 cases are reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Within 24 hours, the country has reported 822 more cases, shows the statistics released by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on Friday.
