Local administration imposed Section 144 in North Waziristan for 30 days

As per the details, the local administration has imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in North Waziristan tribal district owing to the prevailing tense situation of the law and order in the area.

Abdul Nasir Khan, the deputy commissioner of the North Waziristan has issued a notification and ordered to impose Section 144 which would be applicable for 30 days since June 8.

As per the order by the deputy commissioner, the District Police Officer (DPO) of North Waziristan reported that due to the current law and order situation, threats related to militancy and other activities to destabilize the environment are expected in the district in case of sit-ins, political meetings, protest rallies, and public gatherings of five or more persons.

In order to prevent any ‘unfortunate situation’, it was essential to impose a complete ban on the public meetings, gathering, and other political sit-ins, the order reads.
