The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday has directed the concerned authorities of Punjab to shift the leader of PML-N Hanif Abbasi to the Sheikh Zayed Hospital for medical treatment from the jail.
A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) headed by Justice Aalia Neelum gave the directions on the petition filed by the imprisoned leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) who according to his counsel is suffering from heart and renal diseases.
“This is a matter of the human health. Such harsh behavior shouldn’t be adopted,” the bench of the high court remarked, criticizing the lawyer of government for suggesting that Hanif Abbasi’s medical reports be summoned to find out the truth instead of shifting him to the hospital.
The court, however, adjourned the hearing of the case till April 11.
In July of the last year, Hanif Abbas was arrested from the premises of the court after the Control of Narcotics Substances (CNS) Court of Rawalpindi awarded him life imprisonment in a case related to misuse of 500kg of ephedrine.
