LHC Hears a Petition Against the Ban on Vehicle Import

The LHC hears a case against the ban on vehicle imports and has issued notices to relevant parties to submit their responses.

After a hearing session in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the ban on the import of vehicles in the country, the court issued notices to the authorities concerned to submit their responses.

Prices of vehicles have surged dramatically, refraining the common buy to afford a new vehicle. This issue could be resolved for now if prices could be reduced by allowing their import.

The local companies are selling vehicles at way too high prices. The petitioner is of the view that the government should remove the ban on the import.

According to the source, car sales surged by 18% in the first half of FY21. Sales by Suzuki, Indus Motors, Honda, and Hyundai were the major contributors where 67,019 units were sold in the period.
