use of hosepipes for washing cars

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has imposed a ban on the use of hosepipes for washing cars and have directed that the cars be washed directly with the bucket water.

Justice Shahid Karim—the LHC judge gave a written order on a petition filed by Haroon Farooq to save water and stop its wastage.

In the written order, the LHC instructed the Lahore Development Authority and the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) for imposing a ban on the service stations from making use of hosepipes for washing cars.

The LHC has also given direction to the households to use buckets of water for washing cars. Furthermore, it has asked for an awareness program to be launched on the ban on using hosepipes for washing cars and for the government of Punjab to explain to the court about the steps for conserving water and stop water wastage.

The court has also asked for a detailed report from all the housing societies in this matter during the next hearing session.
