Lenovo is the top-selling laptop brand in the world since 2012, Lenovo first crossed HP during the 3rd quarter of 2012 when HP shipped a total number of Personal Computers 13.53 million and Lenovo sold 13.77 million units, it was the first time Lenovo beat HP in Personal computers market.

Later, Lenovo again dipped for few quarters but regained momentum and became the top-selling Laptop and Personal Computer brand. After the 2nd quarter of 2013 HP could never catch up with Lenovo, there was always a difference of almost 1 million units between these two.

However, HP was able to sell more units during the 2nd and 4th quarter of 2017 as well as the 1st quarter of 2018, but Lenovo is far away according to the cumulative average.

The strategy was the same as other Chinese smartphone brands, “Slowly Slowly Catch The Monkey” Chinese company first introduced it with low-priced products, covered emerging markets first, then it heavily invested in improving the quality of its products. You can see this strategy in almost every Chinese multinational brand.
