Lenovo Claims Of Developing 90W Fast Charging For Gaming Phones

In the past two years, fast charging technology has made some tremendous progress, with the latest devices providing a maximum charge within an hour.

With its Reno Ace and Oppo Find X2 Pro offering 65W charging speeds, Oppo is arguably king of the fast charging game right now. But it looks like Lenovo is planning for its Legion Gaming Phone (h / t: MySmartPrice) a ludicrous solution, teasing on Weibo 90W charging rates.

Clearly the Lenovo Gaming Phone will be a big improvement over previous fast charging solutions. At this point, though, we must question about heating and battery durability.

However, the actual time to 100 percent depends on the size of the battery on the handset, with the 4,000mAh battery on the Oppo Reno Ace reaching full capacity in 35 minutes. And we should expect a quicker charging time if the Legion Gaming Phone has the same size of the battery and a similar time if it has a battery of ~5,000mAh.

For other devices (e.g. laptops), we don’t want to rule out the possibility of the phone coming with a 90W charger, but topping out at a lower wattage. We’ve seen Xiaomi sell a 65W adapter in the Mi 10 Pro box before, but the phone only has 50W speeds. Nonetheless, the company’s comments on Weibo point out that this is the real deal rather than an odd marketing tactic.

For all the specifics, we’ll have to wait for the eventual unveiling of the Lenovo Legion Gaming Phone.
