In order to bring reforms in the accountability department, the Ministry of Law and Justice sent the National Accountability Bureau Amendment Ordinance 2019 proposal to the PM Office.
The summary proposed by the law ministry is said to be presented at the next meeting of the cabinet for approval. After approval from the cabinet, the ordinance will be presented to the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Arif Alvi.
According to the proposed amendments, the National Accountability Bureau will be barred from taking action against the government employees in case of departmental deficiency.
The proposed ordinance further stated that the property of the government employees cannot be seized unless the court issued the order and if the anti-corruption watchdog investigation is incomplete after three months, the arrested public servant is entitled to bail.
Furthermore, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) may take action against the corruption of over Rs500 million.
