In the efforts to provide the province of Punjab with renewable energy resources, Dr. Muhammad Akhtar Malik—the Provincial Energy Minister has recently inaugurated the largest solar wall at the Centre for Energy Research and Development (CERAD)—University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Kala Shah Kaku Campus.
This solar wall built at the UET KSK campus would be generating 410KW energy. The energy sector of Pakistan is experiencing severe energy crisis, hence, the focus of the government is to launch alternative sources of electricity production for overcoming this significant issue, as informed by the Minister for Energy.
Prof Dr. Aziz Akbar—the Vice Chancellor of UET Lahore, faculty members and other university officials and students from different university departments were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
Dr. Malik stressed that the use of solar energy is environment-friendly and said that they would be focusing on the utilization of renewable energy in Pakistan for strengthening the economy of the nation and to overcome the energy crisis.
The VC of UET while expressing his views on the present development said that the academia could play a significant role in the projects of government and the solar wall project of UET is a remarkable milestone in the field of energy production.
Prof Dr. Waqar Mahmood—the director CERAD also lauded the efforts of the faculty members for the big project.
