In a meeting between Consul General of Kuwait Mohammad AlKhalidi and Sindh Minister for Energy Imtiaz A Shaikh the viability of investing in the renewable energy sector in Sindh was discussed.
Dr. Ahmad Idrees accompanies the CG and said that Kuwait has an interest to fund solar and wind energy-related projects in Pakistan. Also projects related to gas and power generation via bio-degradable waste.
Kuwait Investment Fund and Kuwait Board of Investment are equally interested to invest in these schemes and work alongside the Sindh government.
As per the Sindh Minister for Energy, the proposal will be presented to the provincial cabinet. Once it is approved, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) could be signed in this regard.
According to Imtiaz A Shaikh, there is huge untapped potential for renewable energy generation in the resource-rich province and through constant and efficient financing it can be utilized.
Earlier we informed our readers that a mega investment program has been planned by the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) for Pakistan. Initially, KIA is planning to invest $20 billion in the country.
