Kuwait Airways is to restart operations to Karachi after a gap of 19 years. The weekly flight from the Kuwait capital to Karachi is to be resumed.
Back in 2000, Kuwait Airways discontinued its flight operations in Karachi. As the airline’s office located in Sheraton Hotel was destroyed by a bomb blast, the airline halted its flight operations in Pakistan. Later, the flights were resumed to Lahore and the federal capital Islamabad.
There are more than 100,000 Pakistanis that are living in various cities in Kuwait. Once the flight operations are resumed to Karachi, it will facilitate the Pakistani Diasporas living in Kuwait. It will also help in enhancing trade between the two countries.
In the past year there are many airlines that have shown a keen interest in resuming or/and starting flight operations in Pakistan. Also, there are airlines that have increased their flight frequency in various cities.
This increase and expansion of flight operations will enhance competition among foreign and local airlines. Also, customers will have more options to choose from. Ultimately, tourism and commerce will be boosted in Pakistan as well.
