KP to Transform Small Dams to Picnic Spots


The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has taken the decision of transforming the small dams into picnic spots, ARY News reported.

The government has started to transform 5 dams into picnic spots for the public initially. The step is being taken in order to promote tourism industry in the nation.

According to the shared details, Jalozai Dam Nowshera, Chatri Dam Haripur, Jhangra Dam Abbottabad, Thand Dam Kohat and Kundar Dam in Swabi are being built as the picnic points.

Open cooking, parking facilities, restaurants, spot fishing and other such facilities would be offered to the visitors at the above mentioned spots.

Previously, on the 19th of August, PM Khan led a meeting on the revival of the tourism sector in the nation, where the decision of forming coordination committee was taken. It was also decided in the meeting that all the encroachments from the tourist spots be removed.

While heading the meeting PM Khan took the decision of forming a coordination committee under the chair of Zulfi Bukhari, his special assistant on Overseas Pakistanis and HR Development for the promotion of tourism in the nation.

The committee would be meeting after every week and would be briefing PM Khan about the progress made on the development of the tourism sector in the nation after every fourteen days.
