The government of KP has imposed smart lockdown in parts of the city of Peshawar for 2 weeks, beginning from today.
CM KP Mahmood Khan took the decision during a meeting on Monday. During the meeting, it was also endorsed that a strategy for smart lockdown is made, which would get the approval from the provincial cabinet in the next meeting.
There has been a surge in the coronavirus cases in the province in the past 24 hours, which has led to the decision of smart lockdown.
Smart lockdown means that instead of shutting down the complete city, only the COVID-19 hotspots that are indicated by the NCOC would be closed.
The meeting also reviewed the virus situation in the province with a special focus on the implementation of the SOPs to curb the spread of the virus.
The chief minister of KP expressed concerns over the violations of the SOPs in some of the sectors and asked them to implement the directives strictly.
They also discussed the issue of expensive treatment at the private hospitals and took the decision to regulate the charges of the private sector. The Health Department has been asked to take the needed measures in this matter.
