The PM’s Backyard Poultry Farming initiative was launched by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan under the National Agricultural Emergency program.
During the next four years, 1,000,000 chickens will be distributed to eligible families at subsidized rates in KP.
A unit that will comprise of a rooster and five hens will be given for Rs1,050 and Rs.40,000. These units will be given to families every year.
The chief minister, while addressing a ceremony said that his government is focusing attention on the growth of oppressed segments of society. This chicken farming initiative would economically help farmers including women.
According to Mr. Mahmood, the government is planning to spend Rs85 billion on the growth of agriculture, livestock and poultry sectors from 2018 to 2023.
He said, “We are working for the development of the agriculture sector and industrialization simultaneously to earn revenue, create jobs, and alleviate poverty.”
As per the chief minister, the PTI government is reforming the economy and providing relief and help to the underprivileged society. Furthermore, the government is promoting industrialization to generate revenue. Through industrialization, jobs will be created for the people.
Also, the government is planning to distribute 2 million chickens to families in Punjab, 1 million each to families in KP and Sindh, 0.5 million each to families in Balochistan and AJK respectively.
