A mobile app and a website to register abuse against women, children, and transgenders have been launched by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, along with Zomung Joundon, a private organization part of the women protection wing.
It is the first time that an app like this has been launched in KP. It has been launched at a time when domestic and child abuse is quite prevalent amidst the coronavirus lockdown. Since the lockdown started, just in KP alone almost 500 cases of domestic abuse were reported.
Presently, the app is available in 8 different languages that include Urdu, English, Pashto, Chinese, and Arabic. Affectees can register abuse reports via the app as per the Women Protection Wing Chairperson Wafa Wazir.
Once the complaint is registered, the Women Protection Wing staff will contact the filer and then concerns will be forwarded to the authorities within an hour. A special team has been created by the wing to contact legal experts, psychological experts, police, and the federal investigation agency (FIA). As soon as the complaint is registered all the organizations will be taken into confidence.
