The anti-encroachment cell of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation—KMC has destroyed an office of the K-Electric on Saturday. The office of K-Electric which is the sole power distributor of the city is constructed on the footpath on the Shahrah-e-Quaideen road.
As per an official of the KMC imparted a 2-room office of the power utility which was pulled down as part of its anti-encroachment operation.
He also said that unlawful structures constructed along the Shahrah-e-Quaideen and Shaheed-e-Millat road are being demolished.
Later, he said that KMC has drafted a strategy to introduce an anti-encroachment operation near the Jubilee Market.
It is important to mention that KMC had previously this month destroyed over a hundred dastarkhawans constructed on the pavement across the city on the instructions of Supreme Court.
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has started its drive against the installations of welfare organisations from the District Central nearly 50 dastarkhwans and other installations were removed from the pavements in Gulberg, North Nazimabad, Golimar, Nazimabad and other localities.
A fine of Rs.15,000 to Rs.25,000 would be charged as per Rule 7 of the Anti-encroachment Act,1973.
