Kia Picanto to be the Next Entry-Level Hatchback in Pakistan

After a decade, Kia Lucky Motors has again entered the Pakistani market. As of yet, Kia has launched MPV Grand Carnival in the market. Also recently the automaker took part in the Pakistan Auto Parts Show (PAPS) 2019 that took place in Expo Centre, Karachi from 12th-14th April.

Kia Motors displayed 5 vehicles there, that are Kia Stinger, Sportage, Niro, Grand Carnival, and the entry-level Picanto. It is expected that Kia Sportage and Picanto will be launched in Pakistan in the months of August and October respectively.

Kia Picanto is a 5-door hatchback equipped with a 1000 cc engine displacement mated with a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The maximum output produced by the Euro-6 compliant 1.0-litre engine is 66 hp. The wheelbase of Kia Picanto is 2400 mm that ensures optimum control over the car.

Back in 2004 the car was first introduced that remained in market till 2011. Then the 2nd generation model of Kia Picanto was launched that remained in produced till 2017.

Then the 3rd generation model was launched at the Geneva Motor Show 2017 and is still produced all over the world. In Pakistan, the company is planning to launch the 2nd generation 1.0-litre engine model. So this means that Pakistan will get an old version of the car. But the company is claiming to launch the version of Picanto that would have additional features in it. The price estimated of the car is PKR 1.2 to 1.5million.

 The direct competitors of Kia Picanto in Pakistan would be Suzuki Wagon R and Cultus.
