KCR to reach completion by the mid of 2023. The government has taken the decision to complete the much-awaited Karachi Circular Railway for the city by 2023.
Asad Umar, the federal minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives headed a development work review meeting of the KCR project.
The meeting was attended by the CEO PPP Authority, the Railways Secretary, and many other senior officials.
During the meeting, it was informed that the work has begun on the different phases of the Karachi Circular Railway project and that it would be ensured to complete the project on time. The Railways Ministry is constantly in contact with the government of Sindh and the work on the underpass at different places is anticipated to commence soon.
Asad Umar asked the railways to draft a system of the public-private alliance for the 3rd phase of the Karachi Circular Railway project. He also said that it is an important venture and it would not just offer modern transport facilities to Karachiites but would also be an attractive project for investment.
During the meeting, it was decided that needed steps would be taken on an immediate basis to make the private sector a part of the project. This process would reach completion within the present fiscal year and work on the 3rd phase would also be ensured.
Moreover, the Public-Private Partnership Authority would be providing the needed cooperation and assistance to the Railways Ministry on this matter.
