Sheikh Rasheed, the federal Minister for Railways has shown confidence that the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) would be operational in 6 months in collaboration with the government of Sindh.
While answering to a question during the question hour in the National Assembly, the minister for railways said this, as per the reports of local media.
Sheikh Rasheed said that the apex court has asked to complete the project within 6 months, he also said that the federal and the Sindh governments are on the same page in this context.
He also said that the housing colonies that are built on the railways land and the financial crunch are the biggest hindrances in this matter.
While answering another question, the Parliamentary Secretary for Railways Farrukh Habib gave the information that 550 vulnerable unmanned level crossings across Pakistan Railways network have been updated in collaboration with the respective provincial governments to prevent the future accidents.
He also said that old age kerosene oil-based signals have been transformed into LED lights on the mainline, which have got better visibility.
Previously, on February 21, the apex court had directed to make the KCR operational within 6 months.
