‘Karachi Transformation Plan’ will be soon finalized to resolve the issues of Karachi like solid waste management, water scarcity, nullahs cleaning, sewerage, and transport. PM Imran Khan has asked his government members to finalize the plan after taking the stakeholders in confidence so that it can be approved and implemented.
During a high-level meeting, PM Khan made these comments. In the meeting, a plan was proposed by the planning ministry to resolve the problems faced by Karachi. The ‘Karachi Transformation Plan’, was discussed which as per the PM office is designed and “has been formulated in line with Karachi’s problems and development requirements”.
The situation in Karachi is severe, with heavy rainfalls bringing the city to a standstill. Now the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has given warning alerts regarding the seventh spell of monsoon rains in Karachi. An already flooded Karachi is expected to have more rainfalls.
The Met Office revealed that another monsoon rain-bearing system has entered Sindh. It can worsen the situation in the already inundated and waterlogged Karachi.
In Karachi, Hyderabad, Nagarparker, Mirpurkhas, Islam Kot, Badin, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Tharparker, Umar Kot, and Sanghar rain and wind thundershowers are expected.
In other cities of Sindh like Sukkur, Larkana, and Jacobabad the downpours experiences, flooded the low-lying areas.
On the flip side, the local administration has still not been able to fix the K-Electric system. It has created problems for the residents of the city. In this situation, the Karachi Transformation plan is a need of the hour.
Pakistan Army and Pakistan Navy are actively working to provide rescues and relief to the residents of the city hit by the severe rainfalls. Karachi Port Trust, Civic Centre, Mohsin Bhopali, and Golimar underpass was cleared by the engineers of the Pakistan Army for traffic. Also, work is being done on the Gizri underpass.
