On Friday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted that Karachi may experience a heatwave from 5th to 8th May. This is expected due to change in the direction of winds.
As per the Met Department the expected temperature will range from 40 to 42 degrees Celsius.
The weather of Karachi will turn hot pushed by dry winds from the south and south-west.
As per the weather forecast, the PMD said that the mercury is expected to go up to 37 degrees Celsius in Karachi during the day time. Also 63% humidity was recorded in the air this afternoon.
The Met office claimed that just dry weather is expected in most parts of Pakistan during the next twelve hours.
But rain and thunderstorm with winds is expected in some places of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, upper Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The temperature recorded on Friday morning is Islamabad was eighteen-degree centigrade, Lahore twenty-five, Karachi twenty-eight, Peshawar twenty-two, Quetta sixteen Gilgit thirteen, Murree fifteen and Muzaffarabad seventeen degrees centigrade respectively.
If Karachi experiences heatwave, this would be an added trouble considering the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. COVID-19 does not seem to be ending anytime soon as experts have claimed that it will continue for at least two more years.
