It has been reported that Karachi once again suffers from an unannounced load shedding in various parts of the city.
The Electric Company responsible for supplying smooth electricity to the city, K-Electric believes that the issue is due to low gas pressure that has adversely affected its generation capacity, resulting in various areas suffer from 8 to 12 hours of unannounced load shedding, according to the reports.
Residents of North Karachi, Nazimabad, Surjani, Federal B Area, and Papush Nagar are among the worst hit by the recent load shedding. Karachi citizens say that frequent power outage has become a norm whereas, citizens are paying monthly bills of thousands of rupees.
As per KE spokesperson, the power utility had been facing an ongoing issue of gas pressure from the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), the company informed that while the quantity of the required gas remained available, but reduced pressure has led to a decline in production capacity.
This gas pressure issue created a supply gap of 400 megawatts at a time when demand was high. Yesterday KE Chief walked out during the hearing with NEPRA due to angry chants by the citizens. The chief escaped the gathering when the temperature rose due to among angry masses.
