Karachi Ranked as Worst City for Living, Driving, Women Security, and City Safety

Recently a lot of rankings have popped up of least livable cities, driving cities, women secure cities and safety cities. Karachi in all these ranking has been right at the bottom.

When Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) revealed rankings of most and least livable cities, Karachi was ranked as the world’s least livable city just above Dhaka, Tripoli, Lagos, and Damascus.

German company kfzteile24 studied cities for driving best and worst, in it, Karachi again was ranked the worst city to drive. It was better than just Kolkata in India. Out of 100 positions, Karachi received the 99th position.

First international experts’ poll was conducted where experts in women’s issues in 19 megacities were asked how well women are protected from sexual violence, from harmful cultural practices, and if they have access to good healthcare, finance and education. Karachi, after Cairo, was ranked as the world’s most dangerous megacity for women.

Economist Intelligence Unit’s The Safe City Index 2017 displayed Karachi as the least safest city in the 60 cities ranked. Karachi was given the last spot in the ranking and the score was 38.77.

Four rankings and surveys, all have Karachi in them but right at the bottom. Karachi the worst city for living. Karachi the worst city for driving. Karachi the worst city for women security. Karachi the least safe city.

Why?

The City of Lights, the biggest city of Pakistan, the city where people find work, home, and living, the city which has history and future is getting lost. These rankings might mean nothing to many but we need to accept them to change them.
