Karachi and other parts of Sindh might experience severe gas and electricity load-shedding during the upcoming winter season owing to the shortage of gas.
As per the sources, the load shedding of gas would experience an increase during the winter season in Sindh and could possibly witness a shortage of 300mmcfd.
The sources have indicated that even the K-Electric might face a shortage in the supply of gas during the winter season. They further added that the sole power distributing firm in the city would require repairing its production plants using the furnace oil before the advent of the winter season in order to avoid the shortage of the electricity generation.
It is important to mention that previously, K-E wrote a letter to the Sui Southern Gas Company asked them to increase the gas supply and pressure to the K-Electric’s plants.
A spokesperson of KE informed that the letter addressed to the SSGC was meant to appeal for consistent gas supply and pressure for the power plants to operate in a smooth manner.
KE said that it was all set to have a deal and negotiate over the quantity and pressure of the gas, but, also said that until the considerations are made it is expecting to receive the gas supply it asked for from the SSGC.
On the other hand, the WAPDA has commenced the recruitment of the Grade-6 to Grade-16 officers for the making of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam.
