Karachi was hit again by a huge power blackout. It has happened for the second time in just two days. The reason for this power off was due to a high tension wire that faced a technical fault at Bin Qasim power station.
Due to this fault more than 15 K-Electric grid stations stopped working as per the reports. This incident took place at late Monday night.
Defence, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Defence View, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Mehmoodabad, North Karachi, Landhi, Liaquatabad , Nazimabad, Korangi, Shadman Town, Gadap City, F B Area, Mubina Town, Aisha Manzil, North Nazimabad, Khokarapar, Malir, New Karachi, Buffer zone, Gul Bahar, Surjani Town, Shah Faisal Colony are the main areas that suffered due to power blackout in Karachi. Other smaller localities were also part of this incident.
Moreover, when people tried to leave complaints or tried to contact K-Electric for inquiries, there was nobody available to answer the queries. Therefore many of inhabitants of Karachi city started protesting against the power company by coming on streets.
This has not been the first incident in the past couple of days. The eve of Ramadan was also celebrated by Karachi citizens with complete darkness. The city of Lights seems like becoming City of Darkness due to inefficiency and incompetency of K-Electric.
As the government is starting mega projects of development and technology, the core issues of the country remain stagnant. We are expecting to boost our economy, when the basic necessities of people are not catered.
