Gallup and Gilani Pakistan conducted the Gilani Research Foundation survey in which it was found out that Karachi is the dirtiest city in Pakistan. Karachi topped the list of dirtiest cities.
In the survey people from all the four provinces were asked “In your opinion, which city of Pakistan is the dirtiest?” It is pertinent to mention here that the survey was gender inclusive.
Now in response to above given question respondents that said that Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Shikarpur is dirty were 25 percent, 11 percent, 7 percent, 5 percent and 4 percent respectively.
Quetta, Sukkur, Multan and Sahiwal was said dirty by 3 percent of respondents each. 24 percent respondents named some other city of Pakistan as dirty. 4 percent said that none of the city is dirty while 8 percent did not give any response at all.
1142 sample of the population was asked this question and the result revealed that the Pakistanis feel that Karachi is the dirtiest city of Pakistan. Rural and urban population both took part and the participants included men and women from all the four provinces. The error margin of this survey is estimated to be around ± 2-3 percent with 95% level of confidence.
The survey does makes sense as Karachi is the biggest, highly populated, yet unclean city of Pakistan. Efforts should be made to improve the challenging condition in the biggest metropolitan city of the country.
