Karachi is all set to welcome the buyers and visitors at the Cattle Market for the festive season of Eid-ul-Azha, which is now just days apart.
All the needed arrangements have been made at the cattle market for the ones who want to purchase the sacrificial animals. The cattle market also referred to as the Maweshi Mandi is located on the main Superhighway.
The Cattle market would likely be inaugurated officially on the 20th of July.
Malik Najeeb—the market’s administrator said that the market is extended across 900 acres with a complete 28 blocks, out of which 16 are VIP, 4 VVIP, and 8 general blocks.
Malik explained that the VVIP blocks contains renowned cattle farms where the cost of the sacrificial animals lies in between Rs.0.5million and Rs.40million.
He further told that the VIP blocks have got the sacrificial animals costing in the range of Rs.0.2million and Rs.1.5million and in the general blocks, the price range varies between Rs.0.1million to Rs.0.4million.
The administrator of the Maweshi Mandi informed that nearly 30,000 cows and 1,000 goats have come to the mandi. He told that the camel market has not been set up yet.
Like last year, the cattle market would also feature a food street. Popular food franchises would also be invited to open their outlets in the food street for the visitors.
He informed that 250 CCTV cameras have also been installed at the various locations for security reasons.
The market would be provided with ATM machines and 48 prayer areas, as informed by the cattle market administrator. He also said that an anti-virus fumigation spray would also be used twice a day for keeping the animals safe and healthy.
