The Joint Investigation Team (JIT), investing the Model Town incident, has summoned the former Chief Minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, his son Hamza Shehbaz Sharif, and other leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday (today).
The other PML-N leaders summoned by the JIT are including Abid Sher Ali, Khawaja Asif, Rana Sanaullah, and Pervez Rasheed.
Former Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has also been summoned by the investigation team.
The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has formally started the investigation in to the incident took place in Model Town, Lahore that took lives of more than dozens.
Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique were also nominated in the case filed by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).
As per the details, the leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have decided not to appear before the JIT. Former provincial law minister Rana Sanaullah said that the formation of new Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been challenged in the high court. “After the high court’s decision on the petition, the leaders of PML-N will decide about appearing before the JIT or not,” he added.
The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has also issued summons to the former personal secretary to Chief Minister Punjab and others to appear before the probe and record their statement in the case.
