A project funded by the government of Japan has been inaugurated in Lahore. It is a grass root assistance project that will provide school bus to special children of Fukuoka Schooling Lahore. The project was inaugurated on February 22nd, 2019.
Financial assistance of US$80,236 is provided by the Japanese government under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Program to Lahore Association Pakistan. It is a non-governmental organization that would now be able to implement the project for the intellectually challenged students.
The school bus keys were given to the Lahore Association Pakistan management by the Japanese envoy Yusuke Shindo. Views were exchanged with the staff and the special children of the Fukuoka School.
The Japanese government gave funding for the transportation facility in Fufuoka School in 2016.
Through financial assistance, 50 special children received special education, speech therapy, and life skills training. Now there was just one van for school students that could accommodate 25 students. Thus, the Government of Japan has given US$80,236 to purchase a new school bus and facilitate the students.
Yusuke Shindo spoke on the occasion and acknowledged the special children, their parents and the representatives of the NGO for the effective completion of the project. He said that it is important create conductive environment for the special children so that they can deliver upon their true potential and become active members of the society.
