Almost over a week after the restoration of the driver’s license issuance services, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) again shut its doors amidst the fears of the resurgence of COVID-19 in Islamabad.
In sector F-8, a notice outside the Islamabad Traffic Police headquarters read that all traffic licensing operations have been halted due to the spread of COVID-19. For further queries, citizens can call 051-9261992-93.
According to the report, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) resumed the services of driver’s license issuance after a pause of 6 months on Oct 4th. The department said that they will conduct duties while making sure that the state-issued COVID-19 related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are strictly enforced.
Per day, a maximum of 250 tokens were issued on a ‘first come first served’ basis. This was done to avoid overcrowding and ensure safe distance in the offices. But the fear of recurrence of coronavirus has compelled authorities to keep a close eye on places of potential spread.
Presently there has been a surge in the cases of COVID-19 in twin cities as educational institutions have reopened and businesses are conducting full-scale operations.
