IT Services Export Increased by 13% in 11 Months

The IT services export has increased by thirteen per cent in the country during the span of eleven months. The information technology export-related services have increased to $963.6 million during the first eleven months of the financial year 2017-18 in comparison to the exports of $852.64 million during the same months of the previous fiscal year.

On an annual basis, the exports of IT related services have recorded an increase of 51.85 per cent as it increased to $41.03 million in the month of May 2018 from $27.02 million of the same month last year.

The country-wise statistics reveals that the highest IT services were exported to the United States where the recorded export was $5177.55 million during the months of July-May of the fiscal year 2017-18. The second highest IT services export was to the United Arab Emirates of $83.23 million.

Exactly the same way, the exports to the United Kingdom during the time span of July-May 2017-18 was recorded at $73.19 million, for Singapore at $34.8 million, for Malaysia at $33.1 million, for Ireland $20 million against the export amounting to $335.8 million in the same time frame of the previous financial year.

As per the breakup figures, the export of telecommunication services saw a decline of 7.34 per cent during July-May 2017-18 to $311.19 million against the export of $335.8 million during the same period the previous year.

The export of call centre services also witnessed an increase of 24.73 per cent from $75.12 million in July-May 2017-2018 to $93.7 million in the same period of the corresponding year.

A surge was also seen in the exports of computer services which increase to $650.8 from $515.3 million during the same period of the financial year 2016-2017, hence indicating a surge of 26.28 per cent.

Among the computer services, the export of computer software increased by 20.08 per cent whereas the hardware consultancy services export surged by 18.3 per cent.
