Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui—the federal minister for Information and Technology has announced about the development of a mobile application, “Beti” aimed at empowering women via information and communication technologies.
The decision was made during a meeting that was held under the Federal Minister for Information Technology ad Telecommunication in Islamabad.
During a meeting the federal minister was informed that under the program—Beti—a mobile application would be created which would act as a combined portal that would provide advocacy on the rights of women, disseminate information on the laws and regulations, scholarships, training opportunities, helpline, job portal, search women-focused educational schools and health services.
Via this application women would be able to locate the nearby hospitals, educational institutions, women police stations, hostel. The Beti app would also be working as a centralized platform for the present women empowerment programs operated by the public and private sector.
The federal minister for IT lauded the program and gave direction for the app creation on an immediate basis.
The meeting attendees were the senior officials of the IT Ministry.
On the other hand, the private and public schools in Lahore are to remain off for 2 days owing to smog issues.
