In order to provide a platform for young IT experts to share their creative ideas, the IT Ministry has planned to launch a web portal.
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has collaborated with Finland University to develop an international standard Virtual University. IT-related courses will be offered via the web portal from this virtual university to train IT, students.
The aim of this web portal is to provide a platform to the youth to come up with IT-related ideas and overall give a boost to the sector at large in Pakistan.
In Pakistan, almost 25,000 IT graduates complete their education annually, however, due to the gap in industry and academia only 5000 to 6000 of those students actually get jobs.
Also, the Ministry is mulling over developing IT Regulatory Authority similar to PMDC to not just regulate education but also launch a standard for IT graduates and certificates holders.
It has been finalized to set up an IT park in Islamabad and Special Technological Zone. The construction will soon begin. Earlier, we informed our readers that South Korea blacklisted the contractor that was hired to build the IT park in Islamabad.
